Kicking off the 2023 NFL Draft preseason's scouting reports is Alabama's Bryce Young. Succeeding Tua Tagovailoa and Mac Jones, he surely stands out as different than Nick Saban's prototypical signal caller. So far, Young has been elite. Injuries, inefficiencies, and poor line play have halted the guaranteed success of the Crimson Tide. The quarterback, though, never seems to be the issue. Let's dive into the tape and kick this off right. Age will be based on when the draft happens, not currently.

For those of you who are new to the 'In a Nutshell' series, this is a summarized scouting report to give you everything you need to know "in a nutshell."
The Good
Young flashes incredible arm talent. His arm strength is solid, not incredible, but his "high-end" throws are jaw-dropping. Young has top-tier decision making as well, even featuring full-field reads. He is a stellar athlete who can create out of structure as well. Young is NFL-ready for sure.
The Bad
There is nothing "bad" with Young, but there are nitpicks. Placement is spotty and inconsistent, to say the least. Accuracy is still high-end, but can be spotty, too.
The Ugly?
Young's frame is a major concern. Under 200 pounds at 6'0 is scary when thinking about Ndamukong Suh hitting him multiple times a game. Another worry is how Alabama tends to over-estimate prospect weight.
Overall
Overall, there is very little to knock off on Young apart from his frame. The tools are there, the athleticism is there, and the mentality is there. Young is a top-tier franchise-worthy quarterback, no doubt about it.
